Title: wiring aquarium lights

i'm bulilding an ornamental hood for my aquarium and i'd like to take the florescent lights from two old store bought aquarium hoods and two cpu fans and install them all in the new hood. it would be really convienent if i could wire all this to one power cord and one switch. i imagine i will have to wire a converter of some kind between the cpu fans and the florescent lights becuase of the different voltages. i'm not sure exactly what kind i need to do this or how to. and each of the florescent lights has its own switch. how can i wire them to one? i'd appreciate any comments or suggestions you could give me.

Power for the CPU fans will require a power supply that will provide the correct voltage, you can junction the lights and the feed for the power supply in a junction box and just switch the power you are feeding it with. As far as the switches on the lights, you can either change the internal wiring of the fixture, or just leave the switch in the on position.

thanks for the help, i'll definately use a junction box to make things look neater. but is there a way to wire a DC05V cpu fan to the same power supply as regular flourescent light fixtures?

Sure, you will need a power supply to provide the correct low voltage to the fan; the supply voltage will be 120 volts, the same as the lights. That supply voltage is what you will switch in the junction box, which will turn on both the lights and the fan.
