I am trying to replace 2 light switches with programmable timers. The timers both have a blue, black, and white wire. The switch box has three wire bundles (black, white, gold) coming into the top and one coming into the bottom. All of the gold (ground) wires are twisted together and all of the white wires are twisted together. I twisted the blue wire on the left timer with the black wires from the left and middle wire bundles coming into the top. I twisted the blue wire on the right timer with the black wire on the right top bundle. I twisted the black wire from each timer with the black wire on the bottom bundle. (Please forgive my description and feel free to ask for more info). The timers do not work. Anyone have a clue where I went wrong?

Should be wired using the same wires that were on the old switches, by following the wire diagram that came with the timers.
